LEDUC COUNTY -- Jessica Arsenault is running to become the next Divison 1 Councillor for Leduc County.

Arsenault brings a vast resume to the race that includes ten years spent working for Alberta's legislative assembly. Speaking to 93.1 The One, she says she believes her past experience will resonate with voters.

"I do have the most political experience, as well as education, management, and human resources," said Arsenault. "So, I do have a wide variety of experience working with people and solving problems."

She'll be up against Glen Bienert and Brett Powlesland in the race to decide who will replace former Councillor Rick Smith, who has held the seat since 2013. He was re-elected in 2017 and 2021 via acclamation, but is not seeking re-election on October 20th. Arsenault then discussed what some of her top priorities would be if elected for Division 1.

"One thing that a lot of people in our communities really want to see is a stand-alone library be built in New Sarepta," said Arsenault. "So that's something I want to take another look at, and see if we can move ahead with that. As well as rural safety, which is a big issue for our residents."
