LEDUC COUNTY -- Glen Bienert is running to become Leduc County's next Councillor for Division 1.
Bienert will be seeking the seat left by current Councillor Rick Smith, who is not seeking re-election after spending the last twelve years in the position. Speaking to 93.1 The One, Bienert says that if elected, he would be transparent and accessible in the role.
"Helping them when they're having problems with the red tape and the bureaucracy," said Bienert. "For anything from development, to wanting to build a house, to wanting to establish a business."
Bienert says his lifelong connection to the local community will give him an advantage over the other candidates in the race for Division 1. He adds that he would work to improve the roads if elected on October 20th.
"Most of it would be very low cost," said Bienert. "A lot of it is complaining about washboard on the gravel roads, and if the grader drivers don't know what they're doing -- educate them so they do."
He'll be up against Brett Powlesland and Jessica Arsenault in the upcoming election.
