LEDUC -- Don Inkster is running to become the next Mayor of the City of Leduc.
Inkser is up against Sam Dalupang and current Leduc City Councillor Lars Hansen in the race to determine who will replace retiring Mayor Bob Young. Young had held the seat since 2017 after first being elected as a Councillor back in 2004.
Inkster has 36 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas sector as a business executive, and has spent much of his life living in the City. He says that he hopes to bring positive change to Leduc through a blend of innovative ideas and a deep understanding of the community.
"I want to lower people’s property taxes in Leduc because I think it's just outrageous," said Inkster in conversation with 93.1 The One. "I thought to myself, sure, Leduc could probably use that too. I have a strong negotiation and business side as well as I do have a social side. I'm not oblivious to what people are telling me, I am listening to them."
He's also a majority shareholder of two businesses within Leduc, and along with his past experience in the energy sector, he believes that he will have an advantage in the City's ongoing Mayoral race.
"I've got the strong business knowledge as well as strong negotiation skills," said Inkster. "That will lower the costs for the people of Leduc. I also look at the social sides of things too -- I'm not just business."
If elected, Inkster says he would explore the possibility of adding a new Hospital to the City of Leduc, and new care homes with on-site medical staff.
