Beaumont secures $38.5 million in new provincial funding

BEAUMONT -- The province has announced $38.5 million in infrastructure funding for the City of Beaumont.

This funding will go towards the construction of roads, utilities, and municipal servicing needed to support development within Beaumont's Innovation Park, including for the proposed safety campus. This investment will lay the groundwork for the proposed Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) safety campus while opening the area to future investment and development.

"Strong public safety depends on well-trained professionals and the infrastructure needed to support them," said Mike Ellis, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services. "This investment will help create the foundation for a modern training facility that can serve Alberta's public safety and commercial transportation sectors for years to come, while supporting economic growth and employment in the Beaumont region."

The proposed campus would provide specialized, hands-on training for law enforcement and commercial transportation professionals. Plans include an Emergency Vehicle Operator Course track for high-speed and emergency driver training, a firearms range, scenario-based training areas and dedicated commercial vehicle training facilities.

"The safety campus at Beaumont’s Innovation Park is a transformative investment in our community’s future," said Beaumont Mayor Lisa Vanderkwaak. "Bringing together modern training facilities for commercial transportation and law enforcement enhances public safety across Alberta and drives substantial economic growth in Beaumont and the region."

The AMTA is responsible for financing, constructing and operating its proposed safety campus.
