BEAUMONT -- The City of Beaumont is launching a feasibility study to explore the creation of a new health facility.
The study -- which comes as part of a new partnership with Covenant Health -- will look into the possibility of adding a new healthcare facility in the community. According to Mayor Bill Daneluik, the feasibility study will also work to determine what sort of services are in the greatest demand locally.
"Council recently toured the Covenant Wellness Community in south Edmonton and we were impressed with their approach to creating a one-stop wellness hub with integrated health and social supports tailored to the needs of the people in the community," said Daneluik. "Our partnership with Covenant Health will explore opportunities for a similar approach in Beaumont that reflects the health service needs of our population and reflects our commitment to the wellness of the community."
The City says the study will be completed with support from the Government of Alberta and is aligned with their broader work to expand community-based care and reduce pressures on acute care systems. The study is expected to be completed by this fall, and will then be shared with the provincial government for consideration in its capital planning.
Beaumont staff say the creation of a new health facility would allow the municipality to better serve its growing community. This comes following the completion of last year's health needs assessment.
