Beaumont expected to hit 30,000 residents by 2030

BEAUMONT -- The City of Beaumont continues to experience one of the highest population growth rates in the province.

According to new growth projections released by the municipality, Beaumont is expected to reach a population of 30,000 by 2030. This comes as the City has seen an average annual growth rate of 5.45 per cent over the past 25 years. Since 2001, Beaumont has grown by 239 per cent from 7,263 to 24,593 by the end of 2024.

"Beaumont continues to grow at a pace that exceeds most Alberta municipalities," said Devin Tuttle, Economic Development Specialist with the City of Beaumont. "Since 2001, the City has nearly tripled in population."

The latest figures indicate that there's no sign of slowing down. Tuttle says that at the current pace, the City of Beaumont is expected to reach a population of approximately 48,300 by 2044, reflecting an average annual growth rate of 3.8 per cent.

Within the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, Beaumont's growth rate since 2016 has averaged approximately 4 per cent annually, making it the fourth fastest growing municipalities in the province, and fastest growing in the region.

"If we look to our competitor municipalities, Beaumont is outpacing every municipality in the Edmonton region," said Tuttle. "This is even more pronounced now that we have updated 2025 data for all the Edmonton area municipalities."

Tuttle notes that while sustained population growth creates new consumer demand and opportunities for local services, it also introduces structural pressure on the balance between residential and nonresidential development. 

He adds that residential growth is expected to continue at its current rate, and while Beaumont grows as a community, it is imperative that a focus is put on more on economic diversification to ensure long-term fiscal sustainability.
